Legendary pacer Wasim Akram lashed out at Pakistan pacers for their ‘chest height’ bouncer tactics against India captain Rohit Sharma in the mega ODI World Cup clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday. Rohit smashed the Pakistan bowlers all around the park as they looked clueless against him.
The swashbuckling opener hit 86 runs off 63 balls which was laced with 6 fours and as many sixes. The Pakistan bowlers tried to target Rohit on short balls but the hitman was batting in full flow and smashed them for some glorious sixes.

Akram was not impressed with the Pakistan pacers’ tactics and said there is only a place for chest-height bouncers.
“You have bowled bouncers at chest height. Rohit Sharma is not 6’5. If you’ve to bowl the bouncers, bowl at him face height and that too slightly outside off so that he pulls and there is fine leg, and square leg. If you bowl bouncers at chest height, there is only one place for it – stands,” Akram said on A News.
Meanwhile, Akram also talked about Mohammad Rizwan’s wickets as Jasprit Bumrah outfoxed him with a sharp slower one which moved back in for the batter and hit the timber.
“Everything was finishing within the stumps, and there was the slowball against the set batsman. (On Rizwan’s wicket) Any batsman would have got out on this kind of delivery. It nipped back and then pitched, held its nice, and just clicked his off-stump,” he added.

During the same discussion, Misbah-ul-Haq slammed the Pakistan batters for struggling against the same thing in the past few years.
“It’s simple. When you talk about Pakistan’s problems, if you look back at the Asia Cup and the 2019 World Cup, one thing is common, we have no clue when we play on slow pitches. We get stuck against spin,” he added.
The former Pakistan captain said that the cautious approach against fast bowlers put the batters under pressure and eventually they commit mistakes against the spinners.
“Even we don’t take on fast bowlers, we don’t take on against bowling [attack], we wait, and it leads to unsurmountable pressure, which leads to mistakes and wickets,” he said.
