The Narendra Modi government has placed inclusive development at the forefront of its agenda in 2023, aiming to ensure that no one is left behind in the country’s growth story. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 15 from Khunti, Jharkhand, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is raising awareness among citizens about various welfare schemes and encouraging their active participation in the spirit of “Jan Bhagidari” to achieve 100% saturation of these schemes.
This initiative, the largest-ever outreach by the Government of India, is set to cover 2.60 lakh Gram Panchayats and 4000+ urban local bodies across the nation.
In just one month, the Yatra has reached over 4 Crore citizens across 1 lakh Gram Panchayats in the country. Furthermore, more than 3 Crore individuals have pledged their support to Viksit Bharat Sankalp.
The outreach programme has been conceptualised on the “whole-of-government approach”, with the Ministry of Agriculture being the nodal ministry for the rural campaign and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting spearheading the urban campaign.
The Prime Minister on Wednesday interacted with beneficiaries of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra via videoconferencing. He also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Thousands of beneficiaries of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra from across the country joined the event. The programme was joined by Union Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and local-level representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, “This campaign to connect with the resolve of a developed India is continuously expanding. It has not been even 50 days since the Yatra started, but till now this Yatra has reached 2.25 lakh villages. This is a record in itself.”
He thanked everyone, especially women and the youth for making it a success. The aim of the Yatra is to reach that person who, due to some reason, has been deprived of the schemes of the Government of India, the PM said.
The Prime Minister said that this proactive outreach to people is meant to assure them that the government schemes are available to all and without any favour or discrimination. “I am searching for people who have been left out,” he added.
The Prime Minister noted the unprecedented confidence among the beneficiaries and said “every beneficiary across the country has a story about the changes in their lives in the last 10 years. It is a story full of courage.”
The campaign to reach out to the beneficiaries of the Centre’s flagship programmes both in rural and urban areas will culminate on January 25, 2024.
