Tendulkar was himself present during the ceremony alongside his wife Anjali and daughter Sara.
The statue, depicting a graceful lofted hit, has been installed adjacent to the Sachin Tendulkar stand at Wankhede Stadium which was also his home ground and the venue where he realised his childhood dream of winning world cup with India in 2011.

The sculptor has been created by a Maharashtra based artist Pramod Kamble.
In 2009, Tendulkar became the first ever Indian sportsperson to have a wax statue of him installed at the famous Madame Tussauds when he turned 36.
Tendulkar is widely regarded as one of the greatest batter to have played the game, retiring as the most prolific batter in international history.
Tendulkar’s statue, at his home ground Wankhede Stadium, is being installed nearly 10 years after he played his last game for India here, against the West Indies in a two-match Test series in November 2013.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, BCCI secretary Jay Shah among others.
Tendulkar continues to hold the record for most runs in international history having amassed a whopping 34357 runs across formats between 1989 and 2013. He also remains the only batter to have scored 100 centuries at the international level.
He also boasts of an impressive record at the Wankhede having scored 921 runs from 11 Tests at 48.47. In 11 ODIs here, he made 455 runs at 41.36.
Tendulkar represented Mumbai Indians during his IPL career, retiring after winning the title in 2013.
