New Delhi: Accusing former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for Congress' rout in elections in Andhra Pradesh, APCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy on Monday alleged Reddy had an hidden agenda leading to the defeat of the party in the state.

"Anti-incumbency and price rise were among the reasons for Congress' defeat. At the same time, the then Chief Minister was part of all these decisions but he had an hidden agenda to corner Congress and cause loss to the party," Raghuveera Reddy told reporters.

He was addressing a press conference after meeting party general secretary Digvijay Singh, who is in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs, to apprise him of the reasons cited by party candidates, who had contested in recent elections, for the defeat in Andhra Pradesh.

Among the 14 reasons identified by the contestants, he said that despite all political parties haivng agreed upon bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the entire "blame" was passed on to Congress party for dividing the state.

Other reasons include failure to field candidates during the local body elections and failure to effectively utilise the social media.

In bid to revive the party, Reddy advocated re-structuring it at all levels and attract the traditional vote bank of Congress such as SC, ST, BC and minorities.

Later, Telangana Congress leaders called on Digvijay Singh separately.

TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah said APCC and TPCC leaders would be having a joint meeting in Delhi on July 1 to discuss the issues arising out of the bifurcation.
