Bihar MLAs all set to walk the ramp
Bihar MLAs have decided to walk the ramp, though, not to make a fashion statement but to promote khadi.

Patna: MLAs in Bihar have decided to take time off from their political duties and walk the ramp. Though, not to make a fashion statement but to promote khadi.

Some of them, including Vijay Kumar Singh alias Dabloo of the LJP and Abhay Kumar Singh of JD(U) practiced at a local hotel in Patna for the show to be organised on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30.

Abhay Singh, an MLA from Jamui and son of Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh, told PTI that young MLAs, irrespective of party affiliation, would take to the ramp clad in designer wear made of khadi.

"Ours is a noble cause as khadi has played an important role in the freedom struggle. The organisers have planned the show on the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, who turned Khadi into a symbol of India's pride and a tool to fight the British yoke," LJP MLA from Nabinagar, Vijay Kumar Singh told PTI.

The organiser of the show, Ranjan Kumar of Renuka Art, said that in order to make khadi the preferred fabric of the younger generation he decided to approach "young and good-looking" MLAs from different political parties.

"I have already practised for several hours, but there is always the scope for improvement," an excited Singh said.
