BJP allies RLSP and LJP face discontent over ticket distribution for Bihar Assembly elections
Chirag was also not in favour of naming candidates with criminal background too but ultimately he had to accept the decision.

Just a day after Raj Kumar Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Arrah in Bihar, accused the state leadership of giving Assembly election tickets to candidates with criminal background, sources say there is massive discontent within National Democratic Alliance partners like Rashtriya Lok Samata Party and Lok Janshakti Party too.

According to RLSP leaders the Bihar chief and Jahanabad Lok Sabha MP Arun Kumar is not happy with his party's ticket distribution for Bihar elections. A senior RLSP leader involved in deciding candidates said that party chief and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha did not even consult Arun Kumar before unilaterally announcing the names of candidates.

In fact Kushwaha, who has made his chief ministerial ambitions very clear on several occasions and even got a resolution to the affect passed by his party on June 21, has not been enjoying a very cordial relation with Kumar for the last few months.

BJP's other ally, Lok Janshakti Party is also facing dissent following distribution of tickets. Sources said LJP Jamui MP Chirag Paswan, the son of party chief Ram Vilas Paswan, was not willing to offer ticket to Prince Raj, the son of Ramchandra Paswan, from Kalyanpur.

Even the decision to let Pashupati Kumar Paras contest from two seats, Alauli and Rajapakar, was opposed by Chirag, a party leader said. Both Ramchandra Paswan and Paras are the brothers of Ram Vilas Paswan.

Chirag was also not in favour of naming candidates with criminal background too but ultimately he had to accept the decision.

Bihar Assembly elections will be held in five phases. Voting will take place on October 12, 16, 28, November 1 and 5. Counting will take place on November 8 and the entire election process will be over by November 12.

The term of the 243-member Assembly ends on November 29.
