New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday finalised 46 seats from the four states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
While the party fielded its senior leader Sushma Swaraj from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh, it nominated former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kailash Joshi from Bhopal all over again.
The leaders who have given the green signal to contest the Lok Sabha seats include – Mrs Yashodhara Raje (Gwalior), former union ministers Satyanarayan Jatia, Sumitra Mahajan, Dilip Singh Judeo, Ramesh Bais and Faggan Singh Kulaste.
The announcement was made by BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley. With this the party has finalised the names of 166 nominees sofar, he said.
While Karnataka Chief Minister’s son B Y Raghavendra has been fielded from Shimoga Lok Sabha, son of former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Dushyant Singh and son of Opposition leader Jaswant Singh, Manavendra Singh have been nominated again.
Dushyant has been nominated from Jhalawad.
The meeting also discussed the list of Uttar Pradesh but no decision was taken.
Karnataka's 11 member list was finalised by the Central Election Committee, party sources said.
The party has fielded G S Basavaraj, a recent entrant from the Congress party from Tumkur in place of S Mallikarjunaiah, a party old guard of Jan Sangh days who has not been enjoying good health.
Sources also said the issue of close relatives getting party nomination figured in the meeting. It is believed that at the meeting BJP President Rajnath Singh stated that an apex decision making body like BJP Parliamentary Board should lay down the formula for the CEC to decide upon the candidates.
