Curfew has been lifted from all the riot-hit areas in the state and the Army has also been called back.
Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti on Tuesday was detained enroute to riot-hit Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The district had witnessed violence last week in which over 40 people lost their lives.
Her visit to the state comes a day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, party Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Minister of State for Home Affairs RPN singh visited the state.
Curfew has been lifted from all the riot-hit areas in the state and the Army has also been called back. The detention can be seen as a precautionary measure.
Earlier also BJP leaders including Ravi Shankar Prasad were stopped from visiting the state.
