"Around 46 Members of Parliament from the state participated in the dharna in front of Vidhan Bhawan against the policies of Uttar Pradesh government and poor law and order situation," BJP state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai said.

The dharna would continue till tomorrow after which further strategy would be decided, he said, adding BJP would protest against "anti-people policies" of the state government at every level.

Addressing the Dharna, Bajpai said ever since the Akhilesh Yadav government has come to power, law and order has "hit rock bottom" and there was "spurt in henious crimes, including rape, murder, loot and abduction".

Bajpai alleged that officers were not taking cognisance of the local problems being raised by the BJP MPs.
