New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) parliamentary executive committee will be meeting on Tuesday to finalise its strategy for the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament. The main Opposition and the Samajwadi Party have already said they will be bringing up the tainted Italian chopper deal in the Budget Session, which is due to start on February 21.
The BJP's top brass, including Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, and party President Rajnath Singh, will brainstorm at senior leader LK Advani's residence. The meeting will also devise the party's strategy against Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on his "Hindu terror" comment. BJP leaders will also hold a protest march on Wednesday in the capital on Shinde's remarks against RSS and BJP on the terror issue.
The BJP is also scheduled to discuss Justice Markandey Katju's statement against Narendra Modi and a plan to continue protests against him. The party's core committee met on Monday.
The core committee discussed matters to be deliberated at party's National Executive and National Council meetings scheduled to be held at Talkatora Stadium between March 1-3. The March 1-3 meetings, which the party said would be attended by nearly 4,000 delegates, are also expected to put a formal stamp of approval on the election of Rajnath Singh as the BJP chief.
The main Opposition party is also expected to raise in the Upper House the allegation against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien in Suryanelli gangrape case. The Budget Session begins on Thursday with the address of President Pranab Mukherjee to a joint sitting of Parliament.
The Railway Budget will be presented on February 26 and economic survey will be tabled the next day. Finance Minister P Chidambaram will present the General Budget on February 28.
