New Delhi: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on Monday threatened to go on an indefinite strike in Darjeeling, if no immediate tripartite talks are held regarding creation of a separate Gorkha state.

A Morcha delegation, led by BJP MP from Darjeeling Jaswant Singh, met Home Minister P Chidamabaram in Delhi seeking immediate talks involving the Centre, West Bengal government, government and GJM representatives to pave way for creation of the new state.

"We do not want to live with West Bengal anymore. We are preparing for an indefinite strike to press for our demand. We have asked our cadre to be prepared for it," Roshan Giri, General Secretary GJM told reporters after the meeting.

The delegation also raised the issue of "inadequate help" from West Bengal government for relief operations in the cyclone hit areas of Darjeeling.

"We have told Chidambaram that so far no relief has come from the West Bengal Government to the cyclone affected people of Darjeeling hills," the BJP MP said.

Singh said the Home Minister assured the delegation that issues raised by them would be looked into sympathetically.
