Mumbai: Gurudas Kamat, who had quit the Congress recently, is likely rejoin the party soon considering the 2017 Mumbai civic elections, party sources said on Wednesday.
Senior Congress leaders AK Antony and Ahmed Patel held separate meetings with him last week amid signals that a way out could be found soon for his comeback to the party.
Senior congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde also indicated that the party will be able to assuage his concerns.
There are reports that he was not happy with the politics being played by Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam and AICC general secretary Mohan Prakash, who is in charge of party affairs in Maharashtra.
On June 6, Kamat had announced his decision to quit active politics. Kamat was AICC general secretary in charge of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
