Hansi: Union Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday asked the people of Haryana to vote "without fear" and bring BJP to power to shut the door on those who had let loose a reign of terror in the state earlier.
The External Affairs Minister, who has been actively campaigning in the state in the run up to the October 15 assembly polls, asked the voters not to be afraid of anyone and vote without fear.
Seeking votes for Prof Chattarpal from here, who recently joined BJP from Congress, Swaraj in a veiled attack at INLD, reminded the people of reign of terror during their regime. She also hit out at Congress over alleged land scams and lopsided development and said if BJP, which is contesting the polls independently for the first time in the state, is voted to power, it will undertake all-round progress.
Notably, besides BJP, main opposition INLD, which has been out of power in the state for a decade now, is seeking to wrest the power from ruling Congress. INLD President and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala had been actively campaigning in Haryana for over past fortnight.
He surrendered at Tihar jail in Delhi yesterday a day after the Delhi High Court asked him to do so for misusing bail conditions by campaigning for assembly polls in the state. "There is no need to fear anyone. Vote without fear...," Swaraj said, while asking the voters to bring BJP to power.
"When you shut the door on such people, who have looted Haryana, they will not find a place to hide," she said, adding "realise your dreams by forming the BJP government."
The BJP leader, whose younger sister Vandana Sharma is also in the fray in Haryana polls, said BJP will provide a "clean, transparent and good governance" in the state. She urged the electorate to make a choice between alleged Congress misrule or the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get rid of corruption.
Swaraj said Prime Minister has many development plans for Haryana because he has an attachment with the state. Modi had emerged as a ray of hope for the disillusioned youth, farmers and women of the country a year ago and people had reposed faith in his leadership, she said.
Swaraj said now was the time for the people of Haryana to make a choice. The Prime Minister has given a major representation to Haryana in the ministry with four ministers from the state, she pointed out. Swaraj also touched upon the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Central government. She further said that BJP in its election manifesto for Haryana had promised that it will work for betterment of various sections of the society.
Laws on cow slaughtering would be enforced strictly and steps will be taken to double the milk production in the state, she said. On the lines of AIIMS two institutes would be set up in the state, she added.
