Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Friday issued a notice to the Mamata Banerjee government on the dengue outbreak in West Bengal. Acting on a PIL, the court issued a notice seeking details of the action taken report on combating the outbreak.
The court has given the government two weeks time to file the report.
There is an acute shortage of the necessary testing kits acorss hopsitals in the state. Offical figures claim that only three people have died so far, although sources say that the toll may have crossed 20.
Mamata, who is also in-charge of the health department, on Thursday called for united efforts by the people and state administration to combat the vector-borne disease on a war-footing.
Mamata called upon people not to panic, but be cautious and take all safeguards as preventive measure.
