Ishrat Jahan case: 'Cong has misused CBI for political gains'
The remarks came a day before the CBI is expected to file a chargesheet in the Ishrat Jahan case.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has stepped up attack on the Congress a day before the CBI is expected to file its chargesheet in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely on Sunday said the Congress has a history of misusing the agency for political gains.

Jaitely has lashed out at the United Progressive Alliance saying that the government has ensured its longevity by misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation. The remarks came a day after the Congress asked the Opposition if it was afraid of the agency uncovering Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's role in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.

"People, who are not guilty...should not be worried...If they (BJP) are clean, why they are afraid of probe? Why do they expect that law should not take its course?" Congress spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das had said.

Jaitley has wrote in his blog that the investigative agency was infact serving the interest of the Congress party. He said and I quote, "The role of the CBI in investigating corruption cases against the leaders of SP and BSP had only ensured that these parties continue to support the UPA. The role of the CBI in framing charges against BJP leaders in Gujarat and Rajasthan has demonstrated that the CBI is acting in order to serve the dictates of the party in power."

BJP President Rajanth Singh has slammed Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh for saying that the Ishrat Jahan case is not political, it is not about CBI vs BJP. The BJP leader said, "The whole country knows that the Congress has misused the CBI in ways they can, and have also done so with other consitutional bodies."
