Nagmani resigned from the state legislative council and the party.

Patna: Nagmani, who resigned from the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet as Agriculture Minister following denial of JD(U) ticket to contest Lok Sabha polls in Bihar, on Wednesday resigned from the state legislative council and the party.

Chairman of Bihar legislative council, Arun Kumar confirmed Nagmani is from the upper house.

“I have resigned from the primary membership of JD(U) and have sent a letter to the party president Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lalan in this regard," Nagmani said.

In his letter to Lalan, Nagmani accused the party leadership of having "badly hoodwinked and cheated" him on the issue of giving him a ticket from Ujiarpur Lok Sabha seat.

"Party leaders had promised me to make a candidate from Ujiarpur Lok Sabha seat but denied the same at the last moment. It is not only an insult to me but to Kushwaha Samaj as well," Nagmani said.

He is likely to contest Lok Sabha polls on a RJD ticket from Chatra in Jharkhand, the seat he represented twice in the past, sources close to Nagmani said.
