Ranchi: The Jharkhand unit of Janata Dal (U), an ally in the ruling BJP-led government, on Friday said it would stage statewide protest on Saturday against the Centre's decision to hike the rates of cooking gas, diesel and kerosene and demanded immediate rollback.
"Our leaders and activists will take out protest march on Saturday at all the headquarters of the 24 districts. We demand immediate rollback of the prices, which have increased due to the wrong fiscal policies by the Manmohan Singh
government over the years," JDU's spokesman Pramod Mishra said.
The Centre hiked the price of diesel by Rs 3 a litre, kerosene Rs 2 a litre and cooking gas by Rs 50 a cylinder.
