New Delhi: Suspended Indian Premier League Chairman Lalit Modi has once against taken on the Board of Control for Cricket in India asking board President Shashank Manohar and Secretary N Srinivasan to withdraw from proceedings against him.
Modi sent a letter to the BCCI President on Tuesday claiming that both Manohar and Srinivasan have a conflict of interests against him. He also demanded that an independent body be set up for adjudicating the show-cause notice served to him by the BCCI for alleged irregularities in the IPL.
Modi alleged that Manohar wanted the IPL bid process cancelled and reportedly asked him to accept the bid by the Kochi franchise even after the deadline.
He also claimed that Manohar spoke to Congress MP and former minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor on Kochi bid.
"Manohar used my phone, e-mail to contact Sahara Group and Dainik Bhaskar on bids. Manohar was fully aware of details of TV rights to Sony-MSM. I have documentary evidence to support the latest charges," Modi claimed in the letter.
"The BCCI Secretary sought wrong benefits for Chennai Super Kings. The BCCI secretary wanted handpicked umpires for Chennai Super Kings matches. The BCCI Secretary did not want Kieron Pollard play for Mumbai Indians," he added.
Modi said that there was a need to cross-examine Shashank Manohar as a witness. BCCI was aware that Manoj Badale represented Jaipur IPL franchise. Jaipur IPL, the company that owns the Rajasthan Royals team, is reportedly proposing to give a stake in the team to Badale-promoted Emerging Media IPL.
Modi also added that he did not have any direct or indirect interest in the Jaipur franchise Rajasthan Royals.
