Chennai: The twin blasts in the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the Chennai Central Railway Station on Thursday have sparked off familiar politics over terror. Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's security has been enhanced after the BJP claimed a threat to his security.
In retaliation, the Congress hit back saying the BJP should stop playing politics over terror.
The BJP had on Thursday, reacting to the blasts, said that the tragic incident happened close to the place where Modi had addressed a rally just a day before.
"Earlier we met the concerned ministry and informed about the threat to our senior leaders including Modiji. Today's explosion happened near the place where Modi held a rally yesterday," said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman. Modi had addressed a rally in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, which is 140 km from Chennai.
"Well the incident has happened unfortunately at the Chennai railway station. The train, which is travelling from Bangalore to Guwahati, was naturally going to pass through Rayagada, close to Tirupati, where the rally was held yesterday," Seetharaman said on Thursday.
