Jaipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress were in a close race in Rajasthan civic body polls. While the ruling party won 891 of the 2,134 wards for which results have been declared, the Congress bagged 770 wards.
Results for 2,134 of the total 3,351 wards have been announced so far and the counting is going on, said the state election commission's spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Independent candidates won 456 wards whereas BSP, CPI and CPI(M) got 12, four and one seats respectively.
The August 17 election for 129 civic bodies in the state had witnessed a record polling of 76.19 per cent.
