New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that roads and drainage system will be developed in all unauthorised colonies in the national capital within the next two years.
"The government has decided to develop road and drainage system in all unauthorised colonies within next two years," Kejriwal announced during a programme here.
There are about 1,750 unauthorised colonies which lack proper roads and drainage system. In March 2015, the Delhi government had issued direction to finalise boundaries of 1,650 unauthorised colonies in the city out of which around 895 have been regularised by the Centre.
The AAP government had in March 2016 allocated Rs 300 crore to Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) for carrying out development works in unauthorised colonies.
