The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will discuss issues related to the Opposition’s narrative of caste divide, analyse recent election results, and enhance connections with Dalit and Backward communities at its upcoming three-day meeting in Ranchi starting July 12.

The ‘Pracharak Baithak’ for ‘pracharaks’ and organisational heads will be chaired by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, with general secretary Dattatreya Hosabole moderating the meeting. Both functionaries have already arrived in Ranchi.

BL Santhosh, an RSS Pracharak and BJP’s national general secretary, will also attend the meet, along with around 277 ‘pracharaks’ from various states and organisations, said RSS sources.

The agenda for the meeting encompasses a wide array of topics aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and societal cohesion. Discussions will delve into innovative ground-level initiatives such as ‘Shakha Vistar’ and ‘Sajjan Shakti’ designed to foster connections across diverse castes and religions. ‘Shakha Vistar’ is known as RSS’ training programmes across villages and towns in the country.

What is on the table?

The organisation is now working on expanding its purview and wants to include members from all castes and religions. For instance, the Sangh is exploring the possibility of including Christians in Shakhas in Kerala.

“Shakhas are open for all castes and creeds. In Shakhas, the volunteers learn about the ideas of patriotism, national integrity and nation building,” said a senior RSS functionary.

The agenda also includes a detailed analysis of recent election results, focusing on understanding voter behaviour and demographic trends. Additionally, efforts in public awareness (Lok Jagran) and strategies to enhance voter turnout (poll percentage) will be reviewed. A key highlight will be the ‘Sampark Abhiyan’, involving coordination across organisations, aimed at deepening community outreach and organisational synergy.

Following the ‘Pracharak Baithak’ in Ranchi, the RSS will convene its next crucial organisational meeting — the ‘Samanwaya Baithak’ or coordination committee — in Palakkad, Kerala, in August.

This annual executive council gathering brings together representatives from all RSS affiliates and organisations, including its political counterpart BJP. Attended by senior functionaries, organisational heads, and BJP leaders, the meeting will address key social and political issues of importance.
