The Election Commission had earlier pulled up the Mamata government for failing to take action against the TMC workers.

The Commission had ordered their immediate arrest and told the Bengal DGP to file a compliance report by 5 pm today.

The EC officials were trying to stop a TMC two-wheeler rally in Malda that was in violation of norms. This is the third such incident. Earlier, TMC workers attacked Election Commission officials in the North 24 Parganas district and Howrah.
