New Delhi: Facebook is said to be working on a mobile news app that lets publishers send mobile alerts just the way Twitter does.
The purported mobile app will allow users to choose which partnering publications they want to follow on the app and also select topics or stations and substations for which they want to receive alerts for.
Publishers can create mobile notifications that will be sent to all followers as instantly as a tweet is sent, a Business Insider report notes.
Similar to Twitter’s character limit; the one in Facebook’s app will allow publishers to send alerts containing up to 100 characters of text and a URL to the news article on the publication’s main website.
Also, one publication can’t create a notification for another.
Facebook has currently selected only a few companies to launch the app with.
