GreyOrange, a multinational robotics firm recently announced its collaboration with Godrej Storage Solutions, a business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd wherein Godrej will exclusively market and distribute GreyOrange’s Pick-Put-To-Light (PPTL) solution to the supply chain and logistics industry in India.

With growth in the sectors of manufacturing, automotive, retail and FMCG in India, there is an ever increasing demand for industrial automation solutions as the companies look to increase their operational efficiency in every manner possible.

‘We are confident of a successful partnership and plan to explore other geographies for a similar business model based on our success in India.’ Yaduvendra Singh, Global Head and Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Solutions Group, GreyOrange was quoted as saying.

As for the solution in focus, Pick-Put-To-Light (PPTL) is a light based guidance system for accurate and efficient Sorting Operations in warehouses.

This system consists of various light controlled locations arranged in processing lanes. A shipping carton is placed at each individual location and acts as an individual ‘store’.

When a container having a particular product arrives at such locations through the conveyor belt, the worker simply scans the container using a scanner integrated with the PPTL.

The system then identifies the product inside the carton and indicates all the stores in which the product is required along with the quantity of product required in each store.

The worker simply puts the indicated amount of products in the cartons and hits a button upon completion. The filled cartons are then sent off to shipping lanes through separate conveyor belts.

This solution has been found extremely effective for companies dealing with a wide variety of products and helps them improve their logistics efficiency by as much as 99 percent. Companies like Amazon and Flipkart deal with millions of products on a daily basis are the ones who profit immensely through such automation solutions.

GreyOrange boasts of working with some major E-commerce and logistics giants such as Flipkart, Myntra, Jabong, PepperFry, Aramex, DTDC, Delhivery, and Gojavas.

This Gurgaon based startup got their Series A funding of Rs 54 crores in 2014 from Tiger Global, which also funded Flipkart and Myntra back in the day.
