Hulu launches its own 'The Perfect GIF' search engine
The site will offer endless GIFs sourced from Hulu's own licensed and original content and let you share it on Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, or through email.

New Delhi: Online video service, Hulu, that offers a selection of TV shows, clips, and movies has introduced its own search engine for GIFs- those extremely small duration clips, mostly reactions and actions, that are a rage on the Internet these days.

The search engine, dubbed 'The Perfect GIF' is housed on Tumblr and offers endless TV-related GIFs by tag, show, reaction or action involved. As TechCrunch notes, the idea behind this project is to help seed social media with high-quality GIFs based on Hulu's own licensed and original content, and later capitalize on the content to market the Hulu brand.

A spoiler for GIF purists, the Hulu GIFs are marked with the hashtag #Hulu along with the name of the show and its network's logo. Users can share the GIF content on Tumblr along with Twitter, Pinterest, or through email.

The search engine will also serve to complement other GIF resources like Giphy and other easy GIF-making tools like those from YouTube or Imgur. It features over 1,400 GIFs from dozens of its top shows across major networks including Fox, NBC, ABC, MTV, Bravo, FX, Showtime, and others, as well as those from classic shows like Cheers, Star Trek, Twin Peaks, The X-Files and more.

The company has said that to keep its feed fresh, it will add new GIFs to the site within 'days or weeks' after new episodes of TV shows air.
