'Spread harmony': Microsoft tells 'old friend' Apple in new holiday ad

New Delhi: As the holiday season approaches it is time to make peace and spread harmony, even in the case of fierce tech competitors Microsoft and Apple.

Spreading the message of peace, software giant Microsoft has released a new holiday ad for ‘old friend’ Apple in which its employees compose the music for a song on their Microsoft Surface devices and start walking from the company’s 5th Avenue store in New York City to Apple’s new blocks away.

Along with a group of children’s choir, they sing “Let There be Peace on Earth" right outside the Apple store. The Apple store employees start trickling out to enjoy the rendition and towards the end the two group of employees embrace each other with the message ‘Spread harmony’ filling up the video.

Ever since Satya Nadella has taken the role of Microsoft’s head, the company is directed towards being more open. As customers use devices which run different platforms, in order to keep up the position in the market, Microsoft needs to break away from the old standards and make its software available for others to use.
