New Delhi: Under the leadership of Marissa Mayer, Yahoo is set to unveil its first major consumer product which is said to be a messaging app that would combine live videos and text.
The app will pull elements from apps like Meerkat, YouNow, Skype, and Snapchat. A report on The Information notes that Yahoo is planning a high-stake entry with this app.
Yahoo has seen major acquisitions under former Google employee Mayer who aims to pull the company out of its lost popularity. From change in the logo to the killing of defunct email addresses, Yahoo has been trying hard to come at par with leaders like Google and Facebook.
While other tech giants have been working or improving on their respective messaging apps, the one coming from Yahoo is expected to face a stringent review process from market watchers and consumers alike, given that it will be the company's first major consumer product in 32 months.
