An Australian man’s video narrating an experience from his recent visit to India has sparked up a debate online. The man named Ben Frier is a travel content creator who has visited India on many occasions. Sharing the experience in a vlog, Ben labelled Delhi as the “Scam City" of Asia, expressing his dislike for the city.
Ben, who had previously sworn never to return to Delhi after a bad experience, was persuaded by a fellow vlogger to give the city another try. However, he fell prey to a scam while buying a plastic toy from a street vendor.
Ben narrated he handed the vendor a Rs 500 note for a Rs 150 toy. The vendor called another person, asking for a change. Now, instead of returning the balance of Rs 350, the vendor gave Ben Rs 200 and another toy before walking off.
“I returned to my least favourite city in the world, Delhi! After a bad experience last time here in India, I swore never to return; however, @baldandbankrupt asked me to join him on one last adventure. Will it be the same as last time? Let’s find out!" YouTuber wrote posting the video online.
The video has garnered traction online with people flocking to the comments to share their reactions.
Based on the video, a lot of users formed a negative opinion about India and expressed that they would not visit the country. However, others criticised the YouTuber for sharing negative views about India based on isolated incidents.
A user wrote, “Just watching the video gave me a headache."
“If you hate the country, why are you going there? To get YouTube views from these people. Stop complaining!!" reacted a user.
Some users expressed their displeasure and accused the vlogger of showing India in a negative light.
The clip has raked up over 95,000 views so far.
