Potholes have emerged as a significant problem nationwide, and Bengaluru, known as India’s tech hub, is no exception. The city has gained notoriety for its growing number of potholes. This has become a major headache for daily commuters. Despite numerous accidents and persistent complaints from residents, the local administration is yet to implement a lasting solution. In the midst of this ongoing frustration, a man decided to take a humorous approach to the issue, announcing his plans to develop an app for rating and reviewing potholes.
Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan, co-founder and CTO at Fyle, an expense management company, took to the X platform and wrote, “Planning to build an app where we can rate and review potholes in Bengaluru. I recently saw a 7-star pothole and felt sad that it wasn’t getting the recognition it deserved. Who’s in?”

In the following post, he went on to share, “This has kind of taken off. I don’t have anything to plug… Except maybe some potholes.”
The post stirred an interesting conversation online, with many actually supporting the idea along with their own funny takes. A user elaborated on the app concept with his ideas, “Give every pothole a unique ID. Make it recognisable based on city and pincode. Ask people to write / print ID on a small flag, put it in centre of attraction , and then upload the photo. Make geo coordinates public.”

A user mocked the potholes in the city and added, “Your 7 star pothole can’t beat the sinkhole on the ORR service road near my place. The venerated monument has been duly marked by a tree branch in typical ‘luru style. I am going to hype it so much, the Ejipura Stonehenge is going to cry for attention.”

A user joined in and advised expanding the plan to other cities: “I suggest you must consider expanding this to other cities as well. There are a lot of hidden 7-star gems here.”

A man joked, “Lease use space technology to make the app as it can be used in the future to compare with the craters on the Moon and Mars too.”

Sad state of affairs in Karnataka. The result of continuing high corruption over last 20 years. Today in the 21St century cannot Karnataka even build pot hole free roads?
