Heavy rains are a blessing for farmers and those in the agricultural sector, promising a good yield of crops, but it also comes with its cons. During this season, people across the country start facing the problems of floods and waterlogging. More often than not, people complain of government officials turning a blind eye to their problems. In recent times, people have turned to gimmicks like rowing boats and planting paddy in the waterlogged streets as a way of catching the attention of officials. In Bihar’s Saharsa, a similar protest is being held after heavy waterlogging on Hatia Gachi main road, with people unable to commute.
Mo Rustam, a local resident, took action to ensure that the officials heard the community’s concerns. He transformed a section of the road into a paddy field and began planting rice. Inspired by his efforts, people from the nearby area joined him in support. Mo Rustam, a YouTuber, known for uploading both comedy videos and videos highlighting various issues, has taken a proactive step to address the local problem. He regularly travels on a particular road in his area, which has long been plagued by severe waterlogging. This issue has been consistently ignored by both the local officials and public representatives, leaving the residents to cope with the inconvenience.
Frustrated by the lack of action, Rustam devised a unique plan to draw attention to the problem. He decided to transform a section of the waterlogged road into a makeshift paddy field. His objective was to create a striking visual statement that would compel the authorities to take notice and address the issue promptly.
When Rustam began planting paddy on the road, his bold move quickly caught the attention of the local community. Many residents, equally frustrated by the persistent waterlogging, rallied around him. They offered their support and assistance, helping him plant the paddy.
