Bronze Medalist Manu Bhaker’s Old Video Of Playing National Anthem On Violin Stuns Internet

Manu Bhaker recently made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as she ended India’s wait for an Olympic medal in shooting. At just 22, she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting, where she secured a bronze in the 10m air pistol event held at the Chateauroux Range in France. This win is especially sweet for Bhaker, after she faced disappointment at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 due to a pistol malfunction. But the athlete is not just passionate about shooting, a video circulating online shows Bhaker playing the national anthem on a violin at the MP Shooting Academy in Bhopal. The video, captured by a Sportstar journalist, shows another talent of Bhaker.

The video features Bhaker sitting near the pool, as she shows her violin playing skills. According to reports, Bhaker had received the musical instrument as a gift from her brother and surprisingly, the athlete took her first music lesson just a few months before the Olympics began. Since the video was shared on X, it has attracted over 16,000 views. Social media users are now praising Bhaker for being multi-talented and making her country proud.

Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “Sports is an essential field to excel in anything.”

Meanwhile, a reporter who took the video wrote, “Manu Bhaker still has a few chances for the national anthem to play at the Olympics but a couple of months back she showed me her skills playing ‘Jana Gana Mana’ on the violin, an instrument she started playing just at the start of the year.”

After Manu Bhaker’s historic win at the Paris Olympics, fans, celebrities and prominent figures flooded the internet with wishes. Among those who celebrated her achievement were Anushka Sharma, Kareena Kapoor, Anand Mahindra, Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, Taapsee Pannu and Shilpa Shetty, among others.

The 22-year-old earned the bronze medal with 221.7 points at the Paris Olympics. She narrowly missed her chance to win silver when South Korean shooter Kim Yeji played a final shot and surpassed Bhaker by just 0.1 points. The gold medal went to Oh Ye Jin.

Earlier, Manu Bhaker had won a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup. At 16, she claimed gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event during her first appearance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Bhaker, alongside Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan, secured gold at the 2022 Asian Games. So far, the young athlete has earned a total of 15 gold medals, 3 silvers and 1 bronze.
