A simple act of honesty can go a long way in restoring people’s faith in humanity. Arnav Deshmukh, a product manager, in a detailed post on LinkedIn, shared how a Gurugram driver went out of his way to return a bag filled with valuable belongings.
In his post, Arnav recalled how his friend, while relocating, accidentally left her bag in an auto after paying the driver via UPI. The bag contained crucial documents such as Aadhar, PAN and credit and debit cards. She also had a gold chain with a diamond pendant in the bag.
“A few days ago, around 1 pm a friend of mine was in a great hurry while relocating the property and took an auto from the roadside. Got off and paid the person via UPI. Just to realise she forgot her bag in the auto which had her important documents like aadhar card, pan card, credit / debit cards and a goal chain with diamond pendant – gifted to her by the late Nani and Maa,” Arnav wrote on LinkedIn.
Despite trying to reach the driver through his UPI details, they were unsuccessful. “We had almost accepted that we’ve lost the bag forever,” Arnav shared. They contacted the police, who promptly assisted by taking them in a police vehicle along the same route, reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the auto-rickshaw.
Just when the hope seemed lost, the property manager called with the news that an auto driver came to return the bag, bringing immense relief.
“Tears rolled over and a sense of relief got into our mind. Rushed back to find everything in the bag was in its place as is. This made us realise and made our belief stronger that God exists and humanity prevails even in tier 1 cities like Gurugram,” Arnav shared.
He also shared the names and photos of the individuals involved in this heartfelt incident, emphasising “these people definitely deserve appreciation and rewards.”
The auto driver was identified as Manirul Jaman and the police officer as ASI Rambir Singh. Arnav also included the photo of the moment when the auto driver returned the bag, with the owner’s mother visibly overwhelmed.

We spread negative news for awareness, true. But talking more about these positivities will start a virtuous cycle. Kudos to both of them.”
Another commented, “Absolutely need to hear such stories because it feels like nowadays people only share it on socials of it’s a bad experience and they take good experiences for granted.”
“Good people exist; they are the silent heroes who make the world a better place every day,” one heartfelt comment read.
Someone else noted, “Honesty is indeed a personal choice, deeply rooted in one’s character and values. While you can be taught the importance of honesty, the true decision to live by it comes from within.”
