Is Denim-On-Denim Making A Comeback? Taylor Swift, Sara Ali Khan And Blake Lively Lead The Trend

The NFL regular season opener for the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens took an unexpected spotlight, with Taylor Swift making headlines. The pop star stole the show at Arrowhead Stadium, attending in support of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, while rocking a chic double denim outfit paired with red thigh-high boots. This stylish appearance coincided with the latest fashion trends, as major designers like Versace, Moschino and Schiaparelli have adopted denim for their autumn collections.

The models, who debuted at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, were dressed in double denim with an exclusively European flare. It now seems like Swift has endorsed the trend as well. The Blank Space singer showed up wearing Versace’s Medusa shirt to support the Chiefs. It’s a cropped cut, made bustier with adjustable straps.

She accessorised the look with a thigh-high red leather boot, a black and gold truck-style micro bag, delicate gold rings and chain bracelets, her distinctive red lip and a gold medallion necklace.

On the other hand, rumours have claimed that her clothing is an Easter egg for a significant turning point in her relationship with Kelce.

Fashion journalist Sarah Chapelle noticed that Swift had worn the identical Versace top in black to another significant occasion. Notably, Chapelle studies every piece of Swift’s clothing and posts them on Instagram.

So, the noteworthy event was when she and Kelce went to an after-party for Saturday Night Live in New York City on October 15, 2023. To be more precise, it was the first time she was officially photographed with her beau.

It appears to Chapelle that Swift is showing lovely but subtle support by re-wearing a garment that she introduced for a significant turning point in their relationship. At the 2001 American Music Awards, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wore what may be the most famous all-denim ensembles in history. However, in 2024, it is making a slight comeback.

At NYC’s Tom’s Restaurant, singer Kelly Clarkson was photographed sporting a wide-leg denim jumpsuit with buttons cascading down as an accessory.

Sara Ali Khan recently made an appearance at a Mumbai premiere and her choice for the evening was a sleek, all-denim jumpsuit with a classic sweetheart neckline.

Sharvari Wagh also showed a couple of Hiro Khatri-inspired all-tan (and denim) ensembles.

Even Blake Lively chose a denim minidress with a light wash and bold stud earrings. This was coupled with a floor-length denim trench coat.

Looks like the double denim season was not entirely gone and is making a come-back in our favourite closets.
