Italian The Most Attractive Language, Dutch And English At The Bottom: Survey
Experts at online language tutor Preply fitted 1,050 UK adults with heart rate monitors and played them pre-recorded chat uplines to draw their conclusions.

A survey was done by an online language tutor application, Preply, which has hailed the Italian as the most charming language in the world. It is found that speaking in Italian increased the average heart rate of men and women by 23 per cent. The experts found that listening to a charming tone like that of Italian celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo increased the heart rate by an average of 15 beats per minute. The Language expert Aleksandra Stevanovic who was behind the survey said that the higher the rate jumped, the more attractive the accent was to the listener as per the findings.

According to the survey, English and Dutch accents were the least appealing or arousing, increasing heart rate by only six beats or 10 per cent and only 12 per cent, or seven beats per minute respectively. The charming French accent increased heart rate by 18 per cent, or eleven beats more, coming in third.

Experts at online language tutor Preply fitted 1,050 UK adults with heart rate monitors and played them pre-recorded chat uplines to draw their conclusions. Aleksandra Stevanovic, linguist and translator explained the findings and said, “The languages perceived to be easy for singing like Italian follow the pattern of one-vowel-one-consonant, so every syllable ends in a vowel. These languages sound musical to human ears, which can be perceived as more ‘attractive’.On the other hand, languages with lots of consonants stacked together in so-called consonant groups, are perceived as non-musical, hence less attractive”

The Greeks came in fourth with a 17 per cent increase and the Chinese came in fifth with 16 per cent, or nine beats more. The Japanese and Germans came in sixth with a 15 per cent increase, or eight beats more per minute, while the Dutch came in seventh with 12 per cent, or seven beats more per minute.

As per Preply, there are ways to make the voice sound sensual. Aleksandra shares her pro tips and recommends the viewers lower their pitch and speak slowly to charm people. A low, husky voice that sometimes is thought of as very seductive.
