Videos of people conducting numerous experiments to make science more attractive can be seen online. The videos are entertaining, in addition to being educational, as they feature everything – from testing out new devices to creating new things out of commonplace items. One such strange invention has caught the attention of none other than Indian business magnate Anand Mahindra. So, what is the innovative creation we are talking about? One content producer and engineer named Sergii Gordieiev developed a unique and functional bike. He calls this one of the craziest projects he and his crew have ever constructed. Instead of using the typical bicycle’s round tyres, he used square-framed wheels. In their workshop, the crew recycles most of the materials from abandoned bike parts.
It can be almost unimaginable to think that a bicycle with square shaped tyres would actually be functional; but in April, he posted a video on his YouTube channel to show that the cycle worked perfectly fine, albeit with a speed lower than normal.
The invention recently caught the eye of Anand Mahindra who retweeted the video of the bicycle with a simple caption, “"I have only one question, why?" Of course, this is a question that lingers in the mind of many of us because one cannot help but wonder what purpose a bicycle with square shaped tyres would serve.

The clip shows Gordieiev entering the park to test-ride his fully assembled, square-wheeled handmade bike after leaving his workshop. As demonstrated in the video, the bike can easily wheel into the asphalt path while weathering the pavement. The engineer’s mechanism produces a constant whirring sound that could be the sound of factory activity in full swing. Upon closer inspection, the bike’s overall weight may appear somewhat heavy, given the steel construction of the square wheels, but its streamlined design could reduce it significantly.
