It is located just 600 yards from the city of Plymouth, off the coast of Devon in the United Kingdom. The islands are believed to be haunted. It houses 18th-century cannons, a private beach, fortifications and barracks. The government has also permitted the construction of hotels on this island to boost tourism. There are rumours that there are ghosts of 15 soldiers who used to live in the barracks in the 18th century. The island is presently up for sale.

The current owner of the Island, Morgan Phillips said in an interview, “You will surely believe the rumours if you visit here. People claim that the spirits are of the British Soldiers. They stay here to protect us from any outside force. They did this job when they were alive and they are still doing their duty.” Morgan mentioned that he has seen many things on the island that are hard to explain, but he insisted that there is nothing to be afraid of.

Morgan further stated that these rumours could attract tourists as there are many places around the world that have become popular tourist spots solely because they are believed to be haunted. He added that the island has several historical significance that makes it more special.

After purchasing the island in the year 2019 for 6 million pounds (approximately Rs 64 crore). The reports suggested that Morgan has received permission to build a 43-bed hotel. He currently offers guided tours of the island to the groups and hopes that he will get a buyer soon. There is reportedly no fixed price for the island but the estimated renovation cost is around Rs 268 crore.
