Makeup artist Lucky Bromhead initially posted this video on TikTok as part of the uncanny valley trend.

A make-up artist’s ghostly makeup look is going viral across social media with many people confusing it with AI video editing or worse— “real”. Lucky Bromhead, an Emmy Award-nominated make-up artist, did self-makeup that showed her with completely black eyes, black teeth, and pale skin. She was dressed in a regular outfit but her make-up gave her a ghostly appearance.

Her look was captured in a short clip that shows her standing on the side of an isolated pavement at night. Initially, Bromhead, along with her friend Kosta Haitas who is a Toronto-based makeup artist, posted this video on TikTok as part of the #uncannyvalley trend but it soon began circulating across social media without the context.

Recently, Bromhead posted this clip on Instagram and clarified that the ghostly appearance was a result of makeup. She wrote, “CREEPY POST! @kostamua and I did the #uncannyvalley trend on @tiktok and it went viral (16. 5 million views so far). Kosta did a great capture where the lighting makes my face/makeup shift in a very creepy way. Anyway, it’s made its way on to Instagram & whatever Twitter is called now. What a trip. #uncannyvalleymakeup #creepy.”

Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “I saw this on another account and most the comments were saying stuff like “this woman is possessed” or “demons are real” lol poeple are so gullible sometimes anyway just came to say that your really good with makeup and that you look amazing.” Another person wrote, “Omg I saw this on another account and thought, that looks so much like Lucky.”

Last year, makeup artist Iza Setia shared a video on Instagram in which she did her makeup as the main character in ‘The Nun’, the 2018 horror film of the same name. She ventured outside in her scary get-up and caught the reactions of people. After people got over their initial shock, many appreciated Setia’s make-up skills.

Recently, makeup artist Mimi Choi, who is known for her ‘optical illusion’ makeup shared a video in which she painted British rock band the Rolling Stones’s iconic logo on her face.

While sharing the video of her stunning make-up, she wrote, “When I was asked to paint a look inspired by @therollingstones’ song “Angry”, I immediately thought it would be the perfect opportunity to paint their iconic logo all over my face! This took about 8 hours to create spread over 3 nights. The most challenging part was making sure that I didn’t ruin the hand-painted glued on tongues while I slept and also preventing my child from peeling them off…”

What do you think of these spooky looks?
