A viral video on social media captures individuals cooking food while seated on the train tracks near Mumbai’s Mahim Junction Railway Station. In the short clip, women can be seen preparing meals on stoves placed between the railway tracks, while some girls engage in studying in the same vicinity. Additionally, children are observed running around, and there are people seen resting or sleeping on the tracks.
The short video was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), by an account named Mumbai Matters. The post has garnered attention, prompting a response from the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railways’ Mumbai Division. Concerned social media users have expressed their apprehensions, urging relevant authorities to take immediate action and describing the situation as “dangerous.” The post, which was shared on January 24, has accumulated over 22,000 views.

Meanwhile, several others expressed sadness over the current situation and voiced concerns about people endangering their lives in such activities.
After the video gained traction, the DRM of Mumbai Central took note of it and directed Western Railway authorities to investigate the situation, which in turn directed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to take action. The RPF responded to the X post, stating that its personnel arrived at the location and “removed the beggars.” “Staff advised to be watchful to keep the system free from such unwarranted activities,” the statement said.
