9 Killed, Hundreds Hurt As Hezbollah Walkie-Talkies, Other Devices Explode In Lebanon Day After Pager Blasts
Explosions continue in Lebanon after the previous day’s attacks injured thousands of Hezbollah members.

Walkie-talkies and handheld radios, bought along with the pagers that targeted over 3,000 Hezbollah members in Lebanon, exploded in three areas of the country on Wednesday.

Lebanese media reported that the blasts occurred in Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and Southern Lebanon, killing three people.

These explosions come just a day after 3,000 Hezbollah members were reportedly injured by exploding pagers.

It also reported that home solar energy systems exploded in several areas of Beirut.

A live stream of the Beirut skyline provided by the Reuters news agency on Wednesday evening showed plumes of smoke have appeared in several locations across the city, however News18 cannot independently confirm if these are linked to new reports of explosions.

The Lebanese state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that “old pagers” exploded inside homes in the southern suburbs of Beirut and southern Lebanon.

It said that a number of injured were transferred to hospitals in the capital and in Baalbek, which is in the Bekaa Valley. Two people were injured after a device exploded on a road in the village of Ali al-Nahri in Bekaa.

A pager also exploded inside a car near a cemetery in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, in the southern Bekaa.

Blast occurred at a funeral procession in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut, where crowds gathered to bid farewell to four of the people killed in Tuesday’s pager explosion when another blast took place.

A report by BBC said children, women and men of all ages were at the procession and the blast occurred as the funeral procession was just starting.

Lebanon has blamed Israel for the blasts and a senior Lebanese security source and another source told Reuters that Israel’s spy agency Mossad planted explosives inside pagers imported by Hezbollah months before Tuesday’s detonations, highlighting that it has a long history of sophisticated operations on foreign soil.
