Nepal PM KP Oli Resigns Ahead of Trust Vote
KP Oli will continue to serve as a caretaker Prime Minister till the house reaches a consensus on the next Prime minister.

Kathmandu: The Prime Minister of Nepal, KP Oli resigned on Sunday evening after two key allies withdrew support from his government. The Oli government lost its majority in the Parliament as a result of this withdrawal.

No trust motion was initiated in the house by the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Maoists jointly, the second and the third largest party respectively in the Parliament.

The Oli government’s short stint in power was mired in controversies after he allegedly failed to serve power-sharing deal with its allies. Madheshis, a group of migrants from India, have reported discrimination on repeated occasions that also led to strain between India-Nepal relations earlier.
