Angered over not giving a wedding anniversary gift, a Bengaluru woman allegedly stabbed her husband, while he was asleep in their house in the city’s tech corridor. Police have filed a case of attempt to murder against the wife, identified as Sandhya.
In the early hours of February 27, a dispute unfolded between the couple for not giving an anniversary gift, reported Wion, adding that the 35-year-old accused then resorted to violence and stabbed her 37-year-old husband, Kiran with a kitchen knife while he slept.
Shocked by her attack, Kiran pushed her before she could injure him further. Later, he alerted the neighbours and went to a private hospital to treat his hand injury. Bellandur police registered the case against her on March 1.
The victim informed the police that due to his grandfather’s death, he could not buy her a gift a day before their wedding anniversary, leading to a tense situation between the two.
The 37-year-old private firm employee also informed police that it was the first time when she did not receive a gift on their wedding anniversary, adding that due to some personal issues, Sandhya was disturbed and wanted to take counseling sessions.
While the authorities recognise the familial nature of the incident, they still prompted a comprehensive investigation, since the hospital released a medico-legal report.
In another unrelated incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat, a woman allegedly stabbed her husband in the eye with a scissor after he asked to use her mobile phone to listen to music on YouTube.
The husband, Ankit, had filed a complaint against his wife, Priyanka, over the incident. A case had been registered and an investigation had been launched in the matter, an officer said.
Ankit had asked Priyanka for her mobile phone to listen to songs on YouTube, the officer said. However, she refused to give him the mobile saying that he should use his own phone for listening to songs. As she refuted, an argument broke out between the two, leading to Priyanka allegedly stabbing Ankit in the eye.
