The BCCI on Saturday ended suspense over the make-up of India squad for the remainder of the England Test series with a confirmation that Virat Kohli will continue to sit out due to personal reasons. Additionally, Shreyas Iyer hasn’t been picked but no reason was provided behind his absence.
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have returned after missing the second Test due to injuries but their participation depends on fitness clearance by the BCCI medical team.

Soon after the team was announced, former India allrounder Irfan Pathan posted a cryptic message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) taking shot at an unnamed player.
Finding it perplexing how someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket. How does this even make sense?— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) February 10, 2024
“Finding it perplexing how someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket. How does this even make sense?” Pathan posted a couple of hours after the India Test team for the final three matches was announced on Saturday morning.
While Pathan didn’t name anyone, social media users have been speculating who the T20 World Cup winner might be talking about.
Recently, Cricbuzz had reported that India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is practising at the Kiran More Academy in Baroda in the company of Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal.
Ishan hasn’t played competitive cricket since taking part in a five-match T20I series against Australia at home in November 2023. He though travelled with the Indian team for the South Africa tour later but didn’t play a single match.
His continual absence from the India squads has led to speculations over the reasons behind with head coach Rahul Dravid saying, “I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point. Whenever he is ready, I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket, I said whenever he is ready, he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything. We are in touch with him.”
