Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, which is set to hit the theatres on October 6. Gill was a legendary hero who successfully conducted the largest coal mine mission and made a capsule to rescue 65 coal miners. For his bravery and heroism, he was also awarded a mention in the World Book of Records and the Limca Book of Records. He created a steel capsule to save the trapped and this technique was later adopted by many foreign countries as well.

As for Kumar, this is the fourth time that he’s playing the character of a sardaar in a film. Prior to Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, the actor had played Sikh characters in Kesari (2019), Singhh is Blingg (2014) and Singh Is Kinngg (2008), all of which performed quite well at the box office.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Ajay Kapoor, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue also stars Parineeti Chopra, Pavan Malhotra, Kumud Mishra and Jameel Khan. Interestingly, the film was earlier titled Mission Raniganj: The Great Indian Rescue but was changed a day prior to its teaser release. The decision was taken in context of respect towards the government’s decision of changing India to Bharat.
