Barcelona's 2-1 loss in Glasgow two weeks back has been the biggest shocker in this season of the Champions League. Add to that defending champions Chelsea's three-way fight for the qualification spots from Group E, and you know there's no safe bet available this edition to put your money on.
FC Porto and Manchester United have stormed into the knockout stage, but Malaga joining them in the last-16 has thrown all predictions out of the window.
Let's take a look at who needs to do what to advance from tonight's encounters in Groups E, F, G and H.
Group E: Nordsjaelland vs Shakhtar; Juventus vs Chelsea
Chelsea, currently with 7 points from 4 matches, are staring at a scenario where a loss can put things out of their hands. A defeat at Juventus, who have 6 points, on Tuesday will make Chelsea dependent on other results to go through. Only one point separates Chelsea, Juventus and Shakhtar Donetsk (also on 7), who can qualify with a win over out-of-contention FC Nordsjaellnd.
Group F: BATE Borisov vs Lille, Valencia vs Bayern Munich
Bayern are visiting Valencia, and with both teams locked at 9 points, a win for either will take it through to the pre-quarters. But if a draw unfolds in Spain, it will eliminate BATE, on six points, if they lose to Lille who are already on their way out following their 6-1 defeat against Bayern in Germany.
Group G: Benfica vs Celtic, Spartak Moscow vs Barcelona
Benfica have just 4 points in as many matches, which puts them in a must-win situation at Celtic. The Scottish club is currently second in the table with seven points after their surprise win over Barcelona, who still top the table with 9 points and are just a point away from progressing. But the Spanish giants have won only once in their six trips to Russia. An outright win for Celtic will guarantee them a place in the last 16. Spartak are at the bottom of the table with just 3 points.
Group H: Cluj vs Braga, Galatasaray vs Man United
United sit pretty with a qualification guaranteed after their 100 percent win record earned them 12 points. Just one point separates the other three teams in the group - Cluj (4), Galatasaray (4) and Braga (3) - who are locked in battle for the other qualification spot from this group.
