Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in connection with a case involving the misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation. Now, as per the reports, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is likely to take up a new role in the party. Currently, he is an MLA from Hindupur on the TDP ticket. There are also reports that he is going to tour Andhra Pradesh ahead of the 2024 assembly elections. Reportedly, early elections may be announced, and keeping this in mind, Balakrishna is likely to take a break from films for a few months. According to reports, he will focus on the political performance of his party during this time.
Balakrishna also had a word with the media, calling the skill development case fabricated. He said that the arrest was made without any evidence and it was only a political vendetta. He said, “Jagan is facing many cases including from ED and is now on bail. Fearing defeat in the coming elections, he is resorting to these steps. He was in jail for 16 months and therefore plotted to put Chandrababu behind bars at least for 16 days.”
Balakrishna further said that the skill development programme had first begun in Gujarat and the chief minister is only a policy maker. According to him, it is just the officials who implement this programme. He said that Ajeya Kallam had proposed this project and Premchandra Reddy implemented it. Balayya said that the TDP government spent Rs.370 crore and provided training to 2.13 lakh people. He hoped that Chandrababu would come out clean in the case.
Balakrishna also recalled that Chandrababu brought in many educational institutions and generated employment for the youth. Balakrishna, Chandrababu’s brother-in-law, claimed that 1,200 youths got jobs in his constituency, Hindupur.
