Lucknow: Director Prakash Jha today said that he does not want to blame anyone for the controversy over 'Aarakshan' that led to the film being banned in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.
Jha had to move the Supreme Court again UP government's decision to ban the film for two months while Punjab and Andhra Pradesh agreed to release the film after minor cuts. UP released the movie after the apex court ruled in favour of
Jha. The director, however, admits that he suffered losses in these states because of the ban. "The film suffered due to ban on it in Anadhra Pradesh,
Uttar Pradesh and Punjab but I am happy that my objective has been fulfilled. It is not a matter of profit and loss from me," Jha told reporters.
He said that those who imposed the ban might have their views but they were proved wrong after its release. "I was calling out to Varanasi, Kanpur and Lucknow to know about the impact of the film and was satisfied by the (Aug 20) evening that there was no law and problem anywhere in the state," Jha said.
The state government had banned screening of the film in UP on Aug 11, a day before its release claiming that it could create law and order problems. The film was later released after Supreme Court orders.
Asked about Anna Hazare's campaign he said that he was with the idea of corruption free country. About possibilities of making a film on Hazare, Jha said, "You are planting an idea...lets see what future has in store."
