CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has demanded that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa initiate legal proceedings against former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in relation to the alleged abuse of the Government Discretionary Quota (GDQ) in the allotment of TNHB plots and apartments. Swamy accused Jayalalithaa of having a tacit understanding with the DMK patriarch and asked her to prove otherwise by initiating graft cases against him.Swamy said that Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi had reached a tacit understanding through the mediation of Sasikala. That’s why they had not filed cases against each other between 2001 and 2011, he alleged. He called for the resignation of Union home minister P Chidambaram for “causing a string of embarrassments” to India. “Chidambaram acted on the orders of Sonia Gandhi, without the knowledge of the Prime Minister, when he ordered the shameful crackdown on Baba Ramdev’s fast at Ramlila Maidan... He also embarrassed us with the botched up list of India’s most wanted. He embarrassed the country when he attributed the Samjhautha Express blasts to ‘saffron terror’... he was key to the 2G scam,” said Swamy. He alleged the Congress was shifting blame in the 2G scam to the DMK to shield its leaders. “If Raja is guilty, then Chidambaram too is guilty. As telecom and finance ministers, they had decided to sell spectrum at 2001 prices,” said Swamy.Referring to Congress president Sonia Gandhi as the ‘Gangotri of Corruption’, he called for legal action against her for money laundering. The Aga Khan had sold islands off Sardinia to Sonia’s sisters. He alleged the islands, worth $10 billion had been sold for $4 billion and asked the Prime Minister to look into the deal.
