New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will on Thursday apprise the Bombay High Court about the arrest of the seven accused in the Adarsh Housing Society scam.
The seven accused arrested in the last two days include former senior Army officers RC Thakur, MM Wanchu, AR Kumar and TK Kaul, a former member of legislative Assembly Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, a former senior bureacrat PV Deshmukh and a serving senior bureacrat Pradeep Vyas.
CBI will also produce four of the accused in a CBI court to secure their custody for further investigation.
Bombay High Court in its last hearing had rapped the agency for a tardy probe and had asked why no arrests had been made in the case after the FIR was registered in Jan 2001.
The Enforcement Directorate is also likely to apprise the court about the progress in its probe. There are a total 14 accused in the Adarsh case which shocked the country in 2010 and led to the resignation of including former Maharashtra CM, Ashok Chavan.
With the arrest of seven accused the heat is now on the remaining seven including another serving senior bureacrat Jairaj Phatak.
