Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday reached Lucknow University where he distributed laptops among students. As many as 2590 students received laptops under the state government sponsored scheme.
The CM was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Pawan Pandey. Addressing the gathering, Yadav said that the state government had embarked on this programme in the face of great opposition. "The youth helped us in removing an autocratic government from the state. These laptops will help fetch youngsters good jobs", he added.
Earlier in the day, former CM Mayawati had slammed the Samajwadi Party government saying that the laptop distribution scheme was aimed at diverting attention from poor governance.
